The all-rounder from Haryana bowls off-spin and is a reliable bat down the order. Consistent performance in the domestic circuit over the last couple of years has earned him call-up in the India ‘A’ teams. Plying his skills on the pacer friendly Lahili wickets, Jayant continued to contribute for his state side with bat and ball. 2014-15 was one of his most successful seasons, when he finished as the highest wicket-taker for Haryana with 33 wickets and the second highest run-getter with 330 runs.
He also played a vital role in Rest of India’s triumph over Mumbai in Irani Cup, 2016. His diligent hard work earned him a call-up to the national team in November 2016 against the touring England team. Jayant, who has a first-class double-century to his credit, scored a century in only his third Test.
